ABOUT IDL Simple Beginnings, A number of years ago some of our best clients from the jewelry casting & manufacturing industry came to us in search of a way to provide their customers with a certificate of authenticity and value which did not entail the overhead of the “big three.” And from there, Independent Diamond Laboratory was born. We took several of our seasoned expert gemologists and set aside a space for them to work privately and independently. We assigned them only one task: developing a methodology to evaluate without bias any jewelry from all sources. The gemologists are not told who the customer is, nor who the vendor is, or to whom the final certificate will be sent. The only information they are provided with is the stone(s) which they will judge and the settings in which they will or are already set. In this manner we assure the recipient of each certification that their jewelry has been fairly assessed without any pressure or leverage. IDL is still a relative newcomer to the field, but is rapidly gaining market recognition as a fair and credible evaluator of fine gems and diamonds.
